Welcome back!

Rev. Ted Creen - Worship Coordinator

Ted and his wife Lorraine are returning to Huron Feathers again this summer. Ted will be the Pastoral Coordinator, responsible for worship and Bible Study. The Creens truly enjoy leading worship at Huron Feathers. Lorraine accompanies our singing with the piano and Ted delivers a weekly message, this year based on 1 Corinthians 13, the “hymn to love”.

Ted is a semi-retired Presbyterian minister, having served congregations in Stouffville and Owen Sound. Ted and Lorraine live in Owen Sound and have one daughter, Sarah who is married to Michael, raising two children, Grace and Jonah.

Ted is a writer. Developed out of messages given at Huron Feathers in 2013 is his book on the Beatitudes of Jesus, Get a Life!  To assist people dealing with loss at Christmas, Ted created an illustrated storybook, Myrrh is Mine. Available this summer will be Ted's most recent book which came out of the messages last summer on the parables of Jesus, Say What?

Ted and Lorraine are looking forward to the summer of 2018 at Sauble Beach and Huron Feathers!

Melissa van Steenbergen is excited to be back again at Huron Feathers for her eighth summer! Melissa was Huron Feather’s camp lifeguard for a total of five summers. After working at Huron Feathers, Melissa went off to work on cruise lines facilitating children’s programs onboard different ships around the Caribbean. After a couple of years at sea, she moved to Hamilton, Ontario with her husband, Joel, and worked as a program coordinator at CityKidz Ministries in Hamilton. Melissa is happy to be back at Huron Feathers again this summer as our Day Camp Coordinator. She cherishes the friendships she has with families from Huron Feathers and is honoured to have the privilege to continue to journey through life with them. Through creative programming she hopes to help make this another amazing summer for everyone involved at Huron Feathers. Joel and Melissa are proud parents to 2 sweet little redheaded boys who will be spending the summer at the beach too. Their family is excited for a sunny and sandy summer at the beach that promises to be filled with fun, friendships, and faith!

I am so excited to be back at Huron Feathers again this year. Huron Feathers has been my summer home for three years now and I am so thrilled to be returning there and reconnecting with all the children and learning and growing in God’s Word together while having a fantastic time at the beach! Since moving to the city September 2017, I have been studying at Seneca College and have just completed my first year for the Early Childhood Education two year Program.  With this program, I was able to gain even more experience in two different childcare programs, one in a daycare for preschoolers, and another in an after school program for school-agers. I have learned so much this past year and am excited to learn more in my next and final year of the ECE program. I am looking forward to another amazing summer with an amazing staff and children’s program. :)

Welcome new staff!

I’m a very energetic 19 year old just weeks from completing Humber College’s Social Service Worker program!  In September, I plan to continue my education and hope to obtain a BSW degree just three short years from now. I have a great passion for working with children and young teens and, over the past three summers, counselled at two Christian-based facilities: Muskoka Woods CITYCAMP – a GTA day camp, and Camp Widjiitiwin – a Huntsvillle ‘over night’ camp. In addition, as part of my placement program at Humber, I completed a lengthy placement at a Toronto after-school drop in program. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to spend the summer in cottage country and will treasure my Huron Feathers’ experience at Sauble Beach!

Isabelle (bella) Moyana

Hi, my name is Bella. I am super excited to be back at Huron Feathers, for my first year on staff. I have grown up coming to Sauble Beach with my family and attending youth as a teenager. My time attending youth at HF were the best summers, and I am excited to come back and continue the loving and welcoming atmosphere that they fostered. I have a passion for impacting youth with the love of Christ and have recently decided to study Youth Ministry at Redeemer University College. Beginning my fourth year in September, I am excited to dive headfirst into learning all about what it means to bring the gospel to youth who desperately need it. My hope for the summer is to foster the same welcoming atmosphere that I experienced, reconnecting with old beach friends, and establishing new ones.
